3D printed hyrax
Appliance hyrax is often used in interceptive treatment to upper arch expansion in hypoplastic maxilla. Its most common modifications are banded and acrylic bonded hyrax. Using CAD/CAM methods in stomatology we are now able to use full digital workflow even at hyrax fabrication. It brings many advantages and innovations as time saving or fully individualised approach in appliance production.
The goal of the lecture is to introduce production principles and present our practical experience using 3D printed hyrax along by casuistics.
Aligners
Aligners treatment is today’s popular and modern alternative to fixed appliances treatment. Beside the most common and world wide used Ivisalign system (Align technology) and many others, its possible to fabricate and use aligners in treatment applying in-house method. The complete workflow – from design through production to treatment – is achievable right in orthodontic office or in collaboration with local dental laboratory. There is a high-quality planning program and 3D printer needed.
This method is beneficial especially at light or moderate orthodontic malocclusions and relapse treatment.
